Why This Role Matters As a Data Entry/Intake Pharmacy Technician, you will be the first point of contact for patient prescriptions, ensuring that every order is accurately captured, processed, and delivered on time. Key Responsibilities Create and maintain patient profiles Accurately input demographic, insurance, and clinical information into our electronic health record (EHR) system. Process incoming orders Review electronic prescriptions, faxed orders, and handwritten requests, verifying completeness and compliance with regulatory standards. Manage refill requests Initiate timely refill authorizations, coordinate with prescribers, and update patient records accordingly. Document handling Organize, scan, and archive incoming documents from fax servers, ensuring secure storage and easy retrieval. Quality assurance Perform double‑checks on data entry, flag discrepancies, and resolve issues before orders are finalized. Customer communication Provide courteous, clear, and accurate information to patients, providers, and insurance representatives via phone, email, or chat. Collaborate with the pharmacy team Work closely with pharmacists, clinical specialists, and logistics staff to streamline workflow and meet service level agreements. Continuous improvement Identify process bottlenecks, suggest enhancements, and participate in training initiatives to elevate overall efficiency. Essential Qualifications High school diploma or GED required; additional education in pharmacy technology is a plus. Current pharmacy technician license or registration as mandated by state law. Minimum of 1 year of experience in a pharmacy setting; 3+ years preferred, especially in a specialty or oncology environment. Proficiency with medical terminology, including sig codes, Roman numerals, and both brand and generic medication names. Strong basic math and analytical abilities to ensure accurate dosage calculations and data verification. Intermediate typing speed (≥45 wpm) with a high degree of accuracy. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, coupled with a customer‑service mindset. Demonstrated ability to work independently, meet tight deadlines, and adapt to shifting priorities. Preferred Qualifications & Skills Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) credential from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or equivalent.
