Analyst, Data & Policy
Job Description:
- Design and conduct advanced descriptive, evaluative, and financial analyses using Medicare and Medicaid administrative data, research files, and public data files
- Draft analysis plans for programmers to implement
- Perform quality-control reviews of R and SAS programming, including statistical analyses of complex survey data and large claims data files
- Create healthcare, policy, and business outcome financial models in Excel or R
- Create informative data visualizations and communicate clear stories from analysis
- Communicate analysis findings and data considerations to project teams, clients, and external audiences through publications and presentations
- Translate data results into policy considerations and deliver data-backed recommendations
- Collaborate across teams and practices on analyses informing clients' policy and business decisions
- Contribute to discussions of policy analysis, data sources, methods, and analytic outputs
- Plan and lead tasks within analytic-focused client projects, presenting plans and results to clients and internal teams
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of professional experience analyzing and helping to design analyses of complex Medicare or Medicaid datasets (claims, encounters, public use files, surveys) in healthcare policy or economics
- Professional experience and advanced proficiency in R and Excel analysis
- Experience writing and visualizing research results and translating complex ideas and findings into relevant insights for an intended audience, visually, verbally, and in writing
- A graduate degree in economics, public policy, public health, epidemiology, statistics, mathematics, or another related field, or an undergraduate degree with equivalent work experience
- Experience and ability to prioritize multiple high-priority, complex tasks with competing deadlines
- Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate, high-quality deliverables efficiently
- High level of initiative, quick learning ability, and resourcefulness
- Ability to solve problems independently, pivot quickly based on client needs, and work with incomplete information
- Ability to support teams' project work while raising risks, questions, and options to appropriate team members
- Experience independently executing and presenting data analyses in a consulting environment or similar setting
- Preferred: proficiency with SAS programming or code review
- Preferred: experience with Python programming or code review
- Preferred: experience with data visualization in Tableau
- Preferred: experience with Git or GitHub
