Whether crafting interfaces, shaping product strategy, or harnessing AI to empower our users, we obsess over quality and clarity. This is a team for designers who want to build, not just talk about building. We ship constantly, use AI to move faster, and care deeply about craft. Product designers at Brex partner closely with Product, Engineering, Research, Data, and Go-to-Market teams to solve high-stakes problems for ambitious companies that rely on Brex to run their finances.

What you’ll do

As a Senior Product Designer, you’ll lead ambiguous, cross-functional product work from problem definition through shipped execution. You’ll turn complex financial workflows into clear, intuitive experiences that help customers move faster, make better decisions, and trust the systems they use every day.

You’ll be expected to operate with high ownership and low oversight: identifying what needs to be true, breaking ambiguity into actionable paths, facilitating alignment across partners, and shipping iteratively toward measurable customer and business outcomes. You’ll bring strong craft, product judgment, and systems thinking to the work — raising the quality of both the product experience and the way the team designs.

About the team

The Travel & Expenses design team designs how employees spend, report, and get reimbursed, and how finance teams set and enforce the rules behind it. Our work covers travel booking, expense management, reimbursements, and the policy and compliance tools that sit underneath them.

Most of our customers don’t think about this software until something goes wrong: a receipt is missing, a reimbursement hasn’t arrived, a trip falls outside policy. Our job is to make those moments clear and quick for employees, and to give finance teams the control and visibility they need without adding work for everyone else. We’re also building AI agents that handle the manual parts of expenses and compliance, and we design how those agents behave, explain themselves, and recover when they’re wrong.

Responsibilities

Own the design direction for a core area of travel and expenses and set a vision and roadmap for it with Product and Engineering.

Take loosely defined problems and decide what needs to be true, what to build first, and what to leave out. Turn them into clear scope, milestones, and shippable increments.

Define the underlying models (states, transitions, edge cases) before designing screens, so the product behaves consistently across surfaces, and bring those models to the other teams that depend on them.

Plan, run, and synthesize your own research, and use customer feedback and data to make and validate design decisions.

Design AI-assisted experiences, including how an agent asks for confirmation, explains what it did, and lets people fix mistakes.

Partner with Product and Engineering as an equal on scope, sequencing, and tradeoffs. Raise risks early and keep design involved through build.

Work across team boundaries on shared components, policy rules, and payment flows. Resolve conflicts before they reach engineering, and represent design in cross-team planning.

Raise the quality bar for the team through critique, clear standards for content, color, and component states, and contributions to the design system.

Mentor other designers through feedback, pairing, and sharing how you approach ambiguous problems.

Present work and rationale clearly to leadership, partners, and customers, and document decisions so others can build on them.

Where you’ll work

This role will be based in our San Francisco, Seattle, or New York City office. We are a hybrid environment that combines the energy and connections of being in the office with the benefits and flexibility of working from home. We currently require a minimum of three coordinated days in the office per week, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. As a perk, we also have up to four weeks per year of fully remote work.

Requirements

Strong portfolio of shipped product work, ideally across complex workflows, systems, or customer-facing business software.

Experience independently leading ambiguous product initiatives and turning loosely defined problems into clear, executable plans.

Strong product thinking, including the ability to connect design decisions to customer needs, business goals, and measurable outcomes.

High craft across UX, interaction design, visual design, prototyping, and systems thinking.

Experience partnering closely with Product, Engineering, Research, Data, and other cross-functional partners throughout the product development process.

Ability to facilitate discussions, synthesize inputs, communicate tradeoffs, and build alignment across stakeholders.

Comfort operating in a fast-moving environment where priorities evolve and designers are expected to bias toward learning, iteration, and shipped impact.

Clear communication, strong feedback habits, and a collaborative approach to improving both your own work and the work of others.

Bonus points

Experience designing financial products, developer tools, enterprise software, or other complex B2B workflows.

Experience using AI tools for prototyping, research synthesis, design exploration, or day-to-day workflow acceleration.

Experience contributing to or evolving a design system at scale.

Experience conducting or partnering on generative and evaluative research.

Strong ability to translate complex product, technical, or business constraints into simple customer experiences.

Compensation

The expected salary range for this role is $192,000 - $240,000. However, the starting base pay will depend on a number of factors including the candidate’s location, skills, experience, market demands, and internal pay parity. Depending on the position offered, equity and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package.

Please be aware, job-seekers may be at risk of targeting by malicious actors looking for personal data.
