Job Description


The Penguin Random House Christian Publishing Group (PRH Christian) is seeking a Senior Designer to join our Creative Services department. The Senior Designer will report to the Creative Director and be responsible for producing digital content to support PRH Christian marketing efforts across web, social, and email platforms, as well as designing and producing print and promotional items, and collaborating with the Creative Director as corporate opportunities arise. This is an amazing opportunity to join an innovative, integrated department and work with the renowned titles published by Penguin Random House Christian Publishing Group. Our authors include John Mark Comer, Annie Downs, Rich Villodas, Victor Glover, Jeremy Roloff, Audrey Roloff, Kellan Lutz, Brittany Lutz, Latasha Morrison, Mark Batterson, Joshua Becker, Joshua Giles, Ron Rolheiser, Jen Pollock Michel, Aaron Graham, Luke Lefevre, Noah Herrin, David Nurse, and many others. This is NOT a cover design position.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Conceptualize and design materials for our books across our 7 imprints, as well as corporate design needs that arise. These include but are not limited to: Amazon A+, back of book ads, social media images, display ads, website assets, email creative, motion graphics, book club kits, presentations decks, lifestyle imagery, postcards, bookmarks, and other print collateral.
  • Work closely with the Marketing team to refine designs, incorporate feedback, and route work.
  • Manage projects through Monday.com and Ziflow: communicate on project threads as needed, traffick creative, plus prepare and release files to stakeholders.
  • Archive work and reinforce department systems and naming structures.
  • Remain current on art, design, and publishing trends, including approved AI tools that can expedite project turnaround time.
  • Participate in Creative Services Team meetings and other departmental meetings.
  • Perform other duties as requested by the Creative Director.

Qualifications


  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a marketing designer, preferably in publishing or advertising
  • A passion for design and typography—as demonstrated by your portfolio
  • Ability to work on a wide variety of high-quality nonfiction, faith-based projects
  • Proficient in Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator, comfortable with Monday.com, and the interest and ability to learn new systems and applications including AI tools.
  • Strong typography and typesetting skills
  • Experience preparing files for digital and offset printing
  • Ability to produce excellent design work in a fast-paced, detail-focused, and deadline-driven environment
  • Strong time and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and provide timely follow-up to marketing teams and other stakeholders
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills across virtual meetings, email, and direct messaging
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams, contribute creative ideas, and cultivate productive working relationships
  • Strong creative problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Proficiency in designing graphics for social media and other marketing applications
  • Photography or AI-generated lifestyle photography experience is a plus
  • Knowledge of animation and video editing, including Adobe After Effects and Premiere, and/or experience in product photography a plus
  • A curious and innovative mindset with an interest in exploring new visual ideas and creative solutions a plus

Additional Information


The salary range for this position is $77,500 - $80,000. All positions are currently eligible for an annual profit award or bonus, subject to company results.
