Remote! In House Attorney with Marketing/Advertising Experience

<p>We are seeking an experienced <strong>Temporary Legal Counsel</strong> to support Marketing, eCommerce, Sustainability, Quality Assurance, and Intellectual Property initiatives. This role will provide practical, business-focused legal guidance on advertising, marketing, promotions, product claims, and brand protection in a fast-paced consumer products environment.<br><br></p>Key Responsibilities<br><br><ul><li>Review advertising, marketing, promotional, social media, and consumer-facing materials for legal compliance.</li><li>Evaluate claims substantiation and advise on product, comparative, health, environmental, and sustainability claims.</li><li>Counsel marketing, eCommerce, product, sales, and innovation teams on campaigns, product launches, packaging, and promotions.</li><li>Advise on digital marketing, influencer programs, sweepstakes, contests, loyalty programs, and consumer protection matters.</li><li>Draft, review, and negotiate marketing and IP-related agreements, including NDAs, licenses, influencer, agency, sponsorship, content, and vendor agreements.</li><li>Provide guidance on trademark, copyright, licensing, branding, content clearance, and rights-of-publicity matters.</li><li>Support trademark portfolio activities and coordinate with outside counsel as needed.</li><li>Develop practical legal guidance, templates, and training materials for business teams.<br><br></li></ul>Qualifications<br><br><ul><li>JD required and active CT or NY Bar membership (or equivalent in-house counsel eligibility).</li><li>5+ years of legal experience in a law firm, government agency, or corporate legal department.</li><li>Strong experience advising on advertising, marketing, consumer protection, and claims substantiation matters.</li><li>Working knowledge of trademarks, copyrights, licensing, and related intellectual property issues.</li><li>Excellent drafting, negotiation, analytical, and project management skills.</li><li>Ability to provide clear, practical legal advice and work independently in a fully remote environment.</li><li>Prior in-house experience supporting consumer products, retail, or eCommerce businesses is preferred.<br><br></li></ul>Ideal Candidate<br><br><p>The successful candidate is a collaborative, solutions-oriented attorney with strong business judgment, the ability to manage competing priorities, and a hands-on approach to supporting cross-functional teams.
