DESCRIPTION

Amazon's Legal Department is looking for a talented attorney to support Amazon Web Services, a dynamic and rapidly growing business within Amazon.com. Amazon Web Services is at the forefront of the cloud computing industry providing IT infrastructure services such as on-demand compute capacity, storage, content delivery, database services, and more. This Corporate Counsel will primarily support AWS's Data Center Operations team, which is responsible for the operation, physical security, maintenance, and logistics of AWS data centers. The role involves working directly with business and other stakeholder teams to provide day-to-day counseling, contribute to projects, negotiate contracts, and address vendor issues. As counsel supporting a large international organization, this attorney must be adept at synthesizing legal requirements across many jurisdictions and providing risk-calibrated solutions.

The role requires strong drafting skills and an ability to distill complex issues into concise and actionable guidance.

The successful candidate must be inquisitive, enthusiastic about technology, enjoy working hard and being continually challenged, and demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations. Compensation will be based on experience and includes equity compensation.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of legal experience
  • Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent
  • License to practice law in Europe, US or other common law jurisdiction

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Background in web services/cloud computing, telecommunications, infrastructure, or operations
  • Experience in a private practice technology group or in-house experience at technology company
  • Experience using AI for legal research, contract analysis, or document review
  • Ability to work independently while being able to contribute successfully to cross-functional teams
