Position Summary

The Associate, Library performs duties necessary to provide an excellent experience for library users, including interacting with students, staff, faculty, and public community users, and may order, receive, and process library materials.
*Hours* Monday-Thursday 10am-2pm, Friday 12:30pm-4:30pm
*Available at least one Saturday per month during Fall and Spring semesters

Primary Duties Performed

  • Perform circulation services including issuing and returning materials and entering related data in library software
  • Assist library patrons with locating materials, computer use, scanners, copiers, and other library equipment
  • Order, receive, process, and verify library materials
  • Provide information and support for access to library resources and facilities remotely and in person, referring patrons to other staff or services when appropriate
  • Refer students to library faculty for research help and instruction
  • Keep library materials in order, which may include shelf-reading, shelving books, shifting, or supervising student workers to perform these tasks
  • Assist with special projects or in functional areas
  • Additional duties as assigned

Qualifications/Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent with 1-2 years of relevant work experience
  • Library work experience preferred

Working Conditions

  • Generally works in an office environment
  • May require some evening and weekend hours

Physical Requirements:

  • Constantly required to reach and bend to shelve and retrieve materials
  • Constantly required to see, hear, and speak to assist patrons
  • Regularly required to move about the library to assist patrons
  • Regularly required to stand for prolonged periods
  • Regularly required o lift or move materials and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds
  • Regularly required to push and pull book carts weighing up to 100 pounds
